I started this journey in 2004 as an aspiring educator who hoped that the gift of teaching that was inside of me would transform the lives of my students. Right there on the southside of Chicago, I began my teaching career at Murray Language Academy in Hyde Park.  Murray was the stomping ground in which I learned the art of teaching.

From there, I started a new chapter of my career in which I obtained National Board Certification in Literacy: Reading-Language Arts.  That experience compelled me to be an instructional leader who would be a driving force in educational change.  From RtI specialist to literacy "guro", some would call me, to finally, assistant principal, I knew I was called to be a pivotal voice of my field.

My thirst for knowledge propelled me to obtain my Masters of Arts in Teacher Leadership from Roosevelt University in Chicago to now, pursuing my Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of New Orleans.

All of my experiences with Chicago Public Schools and now, the New Orleans' Recovery School District has set the stage to finally "making them hear me".

Here, you will turn the pages into my wonderings, insights, research, assertions, frustrations and even challenges that confront educators today.  My dear friends....READ ALL ABOUT IT!
